Mount Carmel Academy

Our Spirituality

"Love in your heart is not put there to stay; love is not love until you give it away." - President Sister Camille Anne Campbell, O.Carm

A primary goal of Mount Carmel Academy is to foster the spiritual development of each student. The tradition of Carmel is one of the oldest traditions of the Catholic Church. During the course of the school year there are many means which enable students to grow spiritually:

  • Daily religion classes
  • Daily community prayer
  • Rosary recitation daily in the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Mass celebrated each Thursday in the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Prayer groups led by parents, teachers, and students
  • Community Service Program
  • School, grade-level liturgies for students and parents
  • Liturgical services and Masses
  • Junior, senior closed retreats
  • Eighth grade, freshman, and sophomore one-day retreats
  • Campus chaplain
  • Peer campus ministry
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
  • Altar servers
  • "Come Lord Jesus" student leaders
