After learning note names (ABCDEFG) on the musical staff, Ms. Duensing challenged her Fine Arts Survey class to a musical note relay race. The activity, designed to help them review for a test, involved each class dividing into two teams and heading outside to compete. Each round began when the teams were given a word that can be spelled with the musical alphabet (ex. BEAD). One at a time, team members raced to a stack of music notes and searched for the correct note to spell their word. The first team to find the correct notes in the right order (B, then E, then A, then D) was declared the winner. The students were able to apply what they learned in class and review their lesson while having a wonderful time in the process.
