Mount Carmel Academy is celebrating Arts in Education Week, September 14-18, with this year’s theme, “A Century of Creativity,” honoring the artists, performers, educators, alumnae, and Sisters who have contributed to MCA’s creative legacy throughout the school’s 100 years in Lakeview.

Throughout the week, students will receive an Arts in Education Week passport and collect stamps by participating in activities. Students who earn at least two of three stamps may use their completed passport as a dress-down pass for Club Dress Down Day on September 30.

Daily announcements will also highlight MCA alumnae and Sisters and their artistic achievements, talents, and stories, connecting students with some of the many creative individuals who have been part of Mount Carmel’s history.

Monday: A Century of Creativity Kickoff
Arts in Education Week kicked off with the distribution of themed stickers during homeroom and the hanging of a "A Century of Creativity" banner created by Art IV students. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a Centennial Time Capsule and photography activity.

Tuesday: Creativity Wheel
During lunch, the National Junior Art Honor Society will host a Creativity Wheel, where students can spin for a quick creative challenge.

Wednesday: Centennial Karaoke
Students will celebrate 100 years through music with Centennial Karaoke during lunch. Songs will span the decades of MCA’s history in Lakeview, from the 1920s through today.

Thursday: Collaborative Watercolor
STK students will lead a collaborative watercolor art project during lunch. Students will contribute to the shared artwork celebrating "A Century of Creativity."

Friday: Tie-Dye Friday
Arts in Education Week will conclude with MCA’s annual Tie-Dye Friday. Students may wear a tie-dye T-shirt with their school skirt, while faculty and staff can join the celebration by wearing individualized ties designed by NAHS students.
