After returning from Hurricane Ida, students in Algebra III were surprised when presented with an unusual assignment. Mrs. Merida handed out pieces of a puzzle and asked the students to color one piece each. After completing their piece of the puzzle, the class worked to fit their pieces together. Once each of the three classes had created a section, they combined to create one, large poster with an important message: "We Are Problem Solvers."

“It was important to me to remind the girls that while we each have our own story and experiences, we are one community that comes together to solve problems,” Mrs. Merida explained. “This poster spanned class periods and the girls had to figure out where their piece went in the larger puzzle and then we talked about the life lessons that mirror that. It was a nice way to come back to school and remind us all that we are better together.”
