Students in English III and English III Honors recently worked on a collaborative project, "The American Dream: Where We're From,” where they shared, discussed, and celebrated the backgrounds and heritages of their respective families.

This group project was step one in a year-long process to identify and share their family’s “dream,” analyze and discuss how literature expresses the “dream,” and develop and proclaim their own personal American Dream. Working in small groups called their "American Dream Teams," they are building connections with their peers to celebrate both their unique heritages as well as share what they have in common. Many discovered that they share similar childhoods and have more in common with each other than they thought at first glance. Together, they created a collaborative poem to represent their group members and to share in their histories that contribute to their interpretation of the American Dream!
