Biology II students recently conducted a UV lab to test how different SPF levels protect against ultraviolet rays. Mrs. Borne led a discussion on the effects of sun exposure and the differences between chemical and mineral sun protection.

Students then worked in groups to test SPF levels using UV-sensitive beads, including a control sample with no sunscreen. After preparing their samples in the classroom, they moved outside, where sunlight activated the beads and made the results easy to compare. The difference between the samples was clearly visible.
