At MCA, we're more than just a school - we're a family. We come together to offer our support when one of our family members is in need. That's exactly what students, faculty, and staff members recently did for Becky, the beloved sister of one of our amazing math teachers, Mrs. Merida.

Becky, an enthusiastic volunteer for Cub Connection every summer, has Prader-Willi Syndrome. Recently her health has declined, and she developed aplastic anemia, which has caused her to be dependent on blood (and blood product) transfusions twice per week. In the midst of a nationwide blood shortage, Becky is in need of our help. On March 15, 2023, Ochsner Health Blood Mobile arrived on campus. Students, faculty, and staff who were eligible to donate rolled up their sleeves to give blood. We know that when one part of our family suffers, we all suffer - and we're committed to supporting Becky during this difficult time.

Special thank you to Ms. Morere and Mrs. Bunol for their help with this drive. If you're interested in donating, please reach out to the Ochsner Blood Bank and specify that your donation is for Rebecca Merida.
