In a show of support of Mrs. Kurica and her son Luke, juniors in her English classes and the entire senior class wore blue on April 2 for World Autism Awareness Day.

Mrs. Kurica mentioned World Autism Awareness Day to several students, but never imagined it would take off the way it did. Thanks to the senior board, word quickly spread. She soon discovered that in addition to her juniors, the entire senior class was wearing blue. Mrs. Kurica’s son Luke has autism, and she is thrilled that MCA students are helping to spread awareness. “I just love that this beautiful gesture came during this time when we are all apart from each other,” she said. “Truly brought me to tears!”

Mrs. Kurica shared a heartfelt post on social media about her son. “Thank you, Luke, for letting me be your mother,” she wrote. “Thank you for showing me what it means to live life to the fullest. Thank you for making me aware of the good in this world. Thank you for being you since I would never change who you are.”
