Mount Carmel’s Book Club participated in a “book tasting.” Ms. Couret, librarian and Book Club moderator, set the library up as a restaurant and invited the students to “taste” books at the table before moving on to the next. In groups of four, students quickly looked through a stack of books on their table before switching to a new group. If they found a book they were interested in reading, they could put it to the side to check out, and a new book would take its spot. Ms. Couret selected the books from student recommendations, her own recommendations, and books that are new to the library. She also made sure they covered a wide variety of genres.
