Mount Carmel Academy began the Carmel Service Experience this summer, giving students in grades 9-12 an opportunity to put their faith into action through service. Throughout the week, students volunteered with Take Paws, Second Harvest, The Arc, The Green Project, and Magnolia Community Services. They cared for rescue dogs, packed food, sorted Mardi Gras beads, recycled used paint, and played games and visited with community members.

In addition to serving throughout the week, students reflected on their experiences and discussed what it means to be a servant leader. The program was designed to deepen the Carmelite charisms of prayer, service, and community while helping students make a difference in the community.
