Environmental Science students conducted a hands-on Mineral Identification Lab to explore how minerals shape our world. Using tools such as streak plates, hardness scales, and magnifying glasses, they tested minerals such as quartz, talc, feldspar, and pyrite to observe their color, hardness, luster, streak, and break patterns. After identifying each mineral, students discussed real-world connections, including how minerals are used in everyday products and how mining impacts the environment. The lab emphasized the importance of understanding natural resources and managing them responsibly.
