Dear Cubs,

I hope that you are excited about New Student Orientation this Wednesday, August 19th!  We are looking forward to seeing you and having you join our MCA family!

All new students in all grades (even those who attended Cub Connection) will attend New Student Orientation after Picture/Fee Day.

A couple of reminders:

  • Please wear your school blouse and brown sweater with casual, modest bottoms (shorts, jeans) for Picture/Fee Day. You will be taking your school picture on this day. (Your FULL uniform with skirt, school shoes and MCA socks is not required until Thursday 8/20.)

  • Picture/Fee Day - August 19, 2020 – Students ONLY.  Parents, if you choose to, you may wait for your daughter at the student exit which is on the opposite side of the Assembly Center from the Louisville Street entrance by the Gazebo, or by the PAC where the Cub Shoppe is located. If you choose not to wait, your daughter can head directly to New Student Orientation, even if she finishes Picture/Fee Day well before 9:30 a.m. We will walk her from the Assembly Center to her Orientation.

All 8th graders and all NEW 9th-12th graders will follow this schedule based upon the first letter of your last name:

A – G - 7:30 – 8:05 a.m.

H – R - 8:05 – 8:40 a.m.

S – Z - 8:40 – 9:15 a.m.

  • Detailed information was emailed previously regarding Picture/Fee day. You will need three checks:
  1. Student/Class fees - The total amount is indicated on the schedule listing with fee information emailed to you last week;
  2. Pictures - made payable to Loupe Photography in the amount based on the picture package you choose;
  3. Any items you purchase in the Cub Shoppe located in the PAC for this day.
  4. Credit cards are accepted for all payments, but for Loupe photography.
  • You will receive your P.E. uniforms, MCA socks, MacBook cover (put on your MacBook for the first day of school) and face masks during Picture/Fee Day. You will receive your student name tags, a copy of your schedule, a copy of your locker information as well as a helpful booklet with school maps at New Student Orientation. (I would recommend bringing a backpack or tote bag to make carrying things easier for you throughout the day.)

  •  If you are in need of a physical for athletes, dancers, or cheerleaders, they will be offered in Duplantis Gym between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Please plan accordingly and see the top of your fee bill for more information.

  • After you have completed Picture/Fee Day, we will have an Ambassador walk you to the cafeteria. From there we will look up your homeroom location and walk you to your classroom, where orientation will begin at 9:30 a.m. You will be able to wait in that classroom if you finish Picture/Fee Day early. There will be Ambassadors in your classroom to wait with you.

  • Please wear your school blouse and casual, modest bottoms for orientation. (No need to change after Picture/Fee Day.)

  • Orientation (9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.) is for students only.  All students who are new to MCA will attend orientation, even if you attended Cub Connection this past summer.

  • Orientation will be divided into small groups based upon homerooms.  Social distancing will be maintained and please be sure to wear your mask the entire time.

  • During orientation, we will hear a welcome from our Principal and President, walk our schedules to see our classrooms and meet our teachers, have a fun Student Council activity, review our cafeteria procedures, have a Q/A session with an Ambassador, visit our locker to practice opening it and to set it up, and see all of our club offerings at our Club Fair!

Students who attended Cub Connection will be picked up at 1 p.m. Pickup locations will be based upon last names:

  • A-M will get picked up in the Horseshoe;

  • N-Z will be picked up on Walker Street by the pedestrian gate leading into the 4th building.

Students who did NOT attend Cub Connection as well as ALL new 10th - 12th graders will attend MacBook training from 1:30 until 3 p.m.

  • We will provide lunch from 12-12:30 p.m.. If you do not want pizza please feel free to bring lunch for yourself.
  • Students attending MacBook training will be picked up at 3 p.m. from the Horseshoe.

As a general reminder, for the first full day of school on Thursday, August 20th, all students will begin their day in their Homeroom classroom at 8:20. The full MCA school uniform will be required.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

All the best,
