The 3D printers in Mount Carmel Academy's Phyllis M. Taylor Maker Lab are busy working to help healthcare providers.

Junior Danna Masri, along with help from Mrs. Duhe, Educational Technologist, began a project to 3D print mask extenders for healthcare workers. They hope to print 55-60 masks per day in the Phyllis M. Taylor Maker Lab and donate them to help frontline responders.

Wearing masks during long shifts can cause strain and discomfort to the ears. The extenders, which hook onto the mask’s loops and are worn on the back of the head, make wearing masks more comfortable.  

Danna picked up the first 60 extenders on April 29. They will be donated to Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner, where her uncle works. Healthcare workers interested in receiving mask extenders should email kduhe@mcacubs.org.
