Twenty-one MCA students traveled to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for the 2019 International Thespian Festival (ITF) from June 24-29. They began their experience by performing “Don’t Stop Believin” from Rock of Ages in the festival's opening show. MCA was one of six schools from across the nation chosen to perform.

The next day they performed a one-act play, “Look Me In The Eye,” to a full house at the Chapter Select Showcase. They were chosen to represent the state of Louisiana as one of 25 chapter select performances at ITF.

They also competed in various individual events, representing MCA in the following categories: solo musical, group musical, group acting, and lighting design. The Group Musical received a "superior" score, Lauren Betzer and Hannah Bonnette received "superior" ratings in solo musical, Katie kitchen received an "excellent" in solo musical, Maggie Jaunet was awarded an "excellent" in lighting design, and Group Acting also received an "excellent" score.

Congratulations to all of MCA's thespians for a job well done!

ITF, produced by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), celebrates student achievement in the performing arts. The 56th event, which this year takes place June 24-29, brings together more than 4,500 high school drama students and their teachers for a weeklong immersion in workshops; interaction with colleges, industry leaders, and Broadway professionals; and opportunities to be inspired by the best high school theatre in the nation.
