As part of Mount Carmel Academy’s commitment to STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math), the junior class annually participates in Junior STREAM Day, where they explore various organizations within these fields. This experience allows students to apply classroom lessons to real-world situations, interact with experts, and uncover new interests, leaving them with lasting and inspiring memories.

The day following Junior STREAM Day, students visit The National WWII Museum, where they delve into artifacts, archives, and oral histories related to World War II.

The two Junior STREAM Days took place on October 14 and October 28, with students visiting a variety of locations, including:

JAMNOLA
An experiential pop-up that combines joy, art, and music, offering students a chance to engage with various artistic exhibits.

LSU School of Medicine
Students explored medical simulations, learning about heart and lung sounds while interacting with patient simulators.

LSU School of Nursing
At LSU’s School of Nursing, students participated in simulations involving wound care, IV placement, and vitals monitoring. This hands-on experience allowed them to interact with nursing students in the patient simulator lab, providing practical insights into nursing practices and procedures.

The tours were led by LSU Nursing students who are also MCA alumnae: Maddigan Terrebonne '20, Madison Roberts '21, and Abby Weber '22.

Mardi Gras World
Juniors learned about the float-building process, from design sketches to sculpting and painting, and saw how ordinary materials transform into Mardi Gras magic.

Students toured the facility to understand the logistics of scaling, production, and branding in the culinary industry.

Tulane University
At Tulane University, students disassembled toddler mobility trainers in the Biomedical Engineering Department, gaining insights into innovative engineering. They engaged in river and delta system experiments at the River-Coastal Science and Engineering (RCSE) Department to address environmental challenges. In the Scot Ackerman Makerspace, they crafted custom jewelry and keychains, gaining hands-on experience with advanced prototyping tools.

UNO Beyond Reality Lab
Students experienced cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality technologies, exploring innovative applications in various fields.
