Twenty-six students represented Mount Carmel at the 2019 Louisiana Thespian Festival held at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches on January 25-26.

All six of our “Individual Events” earned a “Superior” rating and qualified for International Thespian Festival.

  • Solo Musical Theater - Katie Kitchen, Hannah Bonnette, and Lauren Betzer
  • Group Acting - Ele Heno, Ashley Dolan, Rachel Lacho, Claire Schenck 
  • Group Musical - Choreographed by Maggie Jaunet; Madeyln Berner, Hanna Miller, Emily Reeks, Isabella Farrigua, Jessie Duplantis, Julia Kuchler, Rhyan-Grace hebert, Ava Buras
  • Lighting Design - Maggie Jaunet (Also earned the highest technical theater score.)

MCA had two callbacks for the final showcase “Group Acting” and “Group Musical Number.” The “Group Musical Number” was selected and performed on the main stage during the final showcase.

Our one-act, directed by Junior Jessie Duplantis, was selected to represent Louisiana as the “Chapter Select” at the International Thespian Festival.

Jessie Duplantis served as a Student Thespian Officer during the festival and was elected as the Student Thespian Officer Chair for next year's festival. This important honor speaks to her leadership skills and talents. 

Three MCA seniors who participated in the college scholarship auditions received numerous callbacks. Maggie Jaunet was awarded the Technical Theater Scholarship and Sarah Dean was awarded the 2nd place Performance Scholarship and performed in the final showcase on the main-stage. 

Mrs. Jacobs-Stanley was appointed as the Co-Chapter Director for Louisiana. 

The International Thespian Festival will take place June 24-29, 2019, at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
