FOOD & NUTRITION

Avery Grundmeyer ’21, owner of Just Eat Me Sweets

Avery Grundmeyer ’21, owner of the bakery Just Eat Me Sweets, visited the Food & Nutrition class. During her visit, Avery shared her journey to becoming a business owner by her 21st birthday. Students had the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and work alongside her, creating their own delicious batches of banana bread. Avery's passion for baking and entrepreneurship left a lasting impression, sparking creativity and excitement in the classroom.
 

 


 

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Aric Jackson, a dynamic student leadership speaker

Aric Jackson recently visited MCA to inspire students with his message of positive impact. Known for his work with national student organizations and leadership programs., Aric's speech focused on the power of words and actions, helping students recognize the effects of bullying and peer pressure. He encouraged them to take proactive steps in fostering a supportive, positive environment both at school and in their communities.
 


 


COMMERCIAL MUSIC & DIGITAL MUSIC

Averie Bielski, country music artist and songwriter

Averie Bielski, a country music artist and songwriter, recently spoke to students in the Commercial Music and Digital Music classes about the process of writing and producing a song. She shared insights into both the creative and technical sides of music production, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at the industry.

Originally from Roswell, Georgia, Averie began playing guitar and writing songs at a young age. After a high school injury ended her softball career, she moved to Nashville to pursue music full-time. She has performed at venues like the Bluebird Cafe and The Listening Room and gained viral attention in 2021 with her debut single, "I Do Too," which helped her build a strong presence on TikTok and led to millions of streams on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
 



 


SNHS & SPANISH HONORS

Ana María Bech, director and publisher of VIVA NOLA magazine

Spanish National Honor Society (SNHS) welcomed guest speaker Ana María Bech, the director and publisher of VIVA NOLA magazine. Ms. Bech spoke about the importance of supporting the local Hispanic community and raising visibility for Latin culture. She emphasized how learning Spanish can be a powerful tool for building connections. Ms. Bech also shared her personal journey in creating VIVA NOLA, a print and digital publication that celebrates New Orleans' culture and the significant influence of Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean on the city.
 


 


COMPUTER SCIENCE

Trina Joseph, technology director

Mrs. Trina Joseph, MCA's Technology Director, shared her Information Technology expertise with the Computer Science classes, exploring topics like how the internet connects and communicates, the structure of the school's network, and the challenges of cyber attacks. She offered students an inspiring example of the growing impact of women in STEM, sparking curiosity and conversations about the role of technology in our world.
