On March 9, 2019, the Mount Carmel Academy Carmelettes were awarded the title of National Champions at Disney World.

The competition was held at the World Showcase in Epcot and was hosted by the American All-Star Association. Mickey Mouse presented the girls with their championship trophy. The honor marks the final season for Mrs. Doran, who will retire at the end of the year after serving as a teacher and Carmelettes moderator at Mount Carmel for 43 years! Congratulations to Mrs. Doran and the Carmelettes!

The Awards

The Carmelettes enjoyed three days of fun in Disney World and performed all day on Saturday to receive the following awards:

  • Overall National Champion for the High School Division
  • National Champions for their Jazz, Open, and Novelty Routines
  • 2nd Place for their Pom routine
  • National Champions - Officer’s Dance - Lindsey Lott, Gianna Margin, Britney Rice, Elise Gruner, Taylor Rivera, and Alyssa Branch
  • National Champion for Soloist Alyssa Branch; 3rd place - Emily Rice; 4th place - Mia Gervais
  • National Champions for the Lyrical Ensemble; 2nd place for Hip-Hop Ensemble, and 5th place for Jazz Ensemble
  • Duets - 2nd place - Alyssa Branch and Madison Fricke; 3rd place -Britney Rice and Emily Rice; 4th place - Emily Rice and Ainsleigh Armand; 5th place - Alex Jarquin and Alyssa Hauptmann
  • Choreography awards for their four team dances - jazz, pom, open, and novelty
  • Technique awards for jazz, open, and novelty
