Sophomore Service Day at Mount Carmel Academy was filled with meaningful acts of generosity and community support. Recognizing the importance of accessible period supplies, students assembled kits containing 10 tampons, 10 pads, and 10 liners, which will be stocked in Little Free Pantries across New Orleans to support those in need. In addition, they wrote heartfelt valentines for first responders and prepared bags for MCA’s St. Joseph’s Altar, continuing the school’s tradition of service.
The day began with a moving talk from Mrs. Merida, who shared stories of her late sister Becky. Becky’s selfless nature and deep love for service — and for the students of Mount Carmel Academy — continue to inspire our community. Her legacy is a powerful reminder of the impact kindness and generosity can have on others, setting the tone for a day dedicated to giving back.
