Four seniors met to have their makeup done before school on the morning of November 12, 2021. But this was far from an ordinary makeup session; they were preparing for their roles in the Sudden Impact mock crash. The entire student body watched as they acted out a fatal crash scenario, observing the lifelong consequences of driving impaired for the individuals involved, their family, school, and community. It was difficult to watch but so incredibly important. A designated safe space with our eight full-time guidance counselors was available for anyone that needed it.

Next semester, students will also witness a mock trial as a follow-up to the crash.

Big thank you to our student actors Piper, Taylor, Charley, Alexis, and Jillian, their parents, the Louisiana State Police, University Medical Center New Orleans Level I Trauma Center,  Acadian Ambulance, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services, DND Towing, makeup artist Ashley Merrit, and our MCCADD (Mount Carmel Cubs Against Destructive Decisions) club and moderators.
