Students in Western Civilization classes were tasked with researching different aspects of World War I. Working in small groups, they each focused on a different area such as life in the trenches, elements of the war on the home front (rationing, the role of children and women), military technology, and propaganda. The groups researched and developed a presentation to share their discoveries with classmates. A few surprises – such as WWI “farmerettes” passing out seeds to plant – made their wonderful presentations even more memorable.
