The MCA Bowling Team had a great season full of good sportsmanship, camaraderie, and personal high scores!
Notable athletes include freshman Taylor Hunn, who advanced to the singles tournament in Baton Rouge on April 5th. Taylor competed with the top 48 girls high school bowlers from across the state and she ranked at 20th place overall, which is promising considering her youth and her passion for the sport. We can only imagine how she will place by the time she is a senior!
Other notable athletes on the bowling team include: Eden Francis and Rachel Stone, two more freshmen, who qualified for the upcoming Pepsi Tournament in Bossier City; Catherine Nicosia, the only sophomore on the team who had the second highest average at the end of the varsity season; and senior co-captains, Hayley Richardson and Jenna Wehner who set the best kind of example for our younger team members with their enthusiasm, their friendliness, and their willingness go the extra mile for the sport.
“Cubs Rock,” one of Mount Carmel’s three bowling teams, finished fourth out of the 44 teams in the New Orleans high school league! The team, made up of bowlers Jenna Wehner, Catherine Nicosia, Taylor Hunn, came in right behind three teams from boys schools, making them the #1 girls team at the end of the fall season!
Mount Carmel Academy bowling team members Eden Francis and Taylor Hunn qualified for the Pepsi Youth Championship after finishing with high scores in the The New Orleans Prep League. The competition will give them the opportunity to earn scholarships and to compete against other top bowlers in the state.
