We are the Champions! 

Congratulations to our Gym Cubs and Coach Melissa Gayé for a very successful day at the LHSAA State Meet. Our Level 8 gym cubs took home the first-ever State Championship in Gymnastics team history. Our level 8 gymnasts are Jourdyn Dwyer, Arianna Puglis, Jeanne Marie Savoie, Meghan Mocklin, Nola Simoneaux, and Emily Chaplain.

Level 8 individual overall awards went to Arianna Puglis in 5th place and Meghan Mocklin 6th place.

No doubt it was a team effort with our level 3 and level 4 gymnasts putting in the work and finishing strong. Mikalah Velasquez hit a 9.525 vault and Mary Cate Zamora scored a  9.425 on her floor routine. Hazel Patterson took to the vault scoring  a 9.475. Grace Wallace’s impressive vault landed her a 9.275 and Natalie Doiron scored a 9.375 on her vault. Stella Fontenot’s vault proved successful at a 9.225. 

Level 3 gymnasts are Allessandra Stubbs, Emma Anthaume, Isabella Bearden, Peyton Hinyup, Francesca-Rose Mayeux, Chloe Odle, Rebecca Suckow, and Mikalah Velasquez.

Level 4 gymnasts are Stella Fontenot, Miranda Weeks, Natalie Doiron, Hazel Patterson, and Grace Wallace

It was a great day and a total team effort. Thank you for your support this season. We are proud of you, Gym Cubs.

 

It’s a new era for MCA gymnastics! The team increased dramatically in size this year, and these GymCubs were determined to go far – and they did! They took the mat at the LHSAA Gymnastics State Championships this past weekend in Baton Rouge. Competing against 25 other schools from across the state, the MCA team finished overall in fourth place!

In the Level 3 division, Grace Hoerner, Sydney Kremer, Francesca Mayeux, Lauren Monier, Mikalah Velasquez, and Grace Williams came in strong, finishing overall in fourth place. Lauren Monier finished in third place on bars, and Grace Williams finished fifth on beam.

In the Level 4 division, Natalie Doiron, Hazel Patterson, Emily Smith, and Miranda Weeks finished fifth overall. Emily Smith took third place on the vault and became a two-time State Champion with her first-place finish on the bars, scoring a 9.95.

In Level 8, Emily Chaplain, Meghan Mocklin, and Nola Simoneaux competed and showed some great finishes. Congratulations on a great season, Cubs!
