The Mount Carmel Academy Fine Arts Department hosted Spotlight on the Arts on December 5. Faculty members kicked off the evening by entertaining students in their hilarious one-act play, "21 Ways to Get Detention." The public was invited to view beautiful displays of visual art; listen to sounds of the season performed by Chorale, Encore, and instrumental ensembles; and experience the magic of STK in action. Students in 4th-6th grade enjoyed an interactive arts experience. They became characters with the help of the theatrical department, created their own 3D ornament in the Maker Lab, worked as on-air talent or behind-the-scenes in the WMCA studio, learned watercolor techniques while painting a Christmas masterpiece, and sang their favorite Christmas carols with MCA vocal ensembles. Spotlight on the Arts was a wonderful display of the creative expression that continues to thrive at Mount Carmel.
