Application Process

Incoming 8th and 9th Graders

September 6 - November 9, 2016;
March: 17, 20, 24, 27, 31; April: 3, 7, 10, 21

Elementary Visitor Days.  5th - 7th grade girls enrolled in elementary schools are welcome to come and "spend the day" any day we are in session.  Please call 288.7626 x4127 to set up your "spend the day".

November 14, 2016

Application cards will be made available to Catholic elementary schools, Catholic high schools, and online. Catholic elementary schools will give their students the application cards.  Students from a non-Catholic school may print one from our website, or call the admissions office and we will mail one to you.  504.288.7626 x 4127.

November 16, 2016           

High School application cards are turned in to catholic elementary schools. Applicants from non-catholic schools, please send the following information to Mount Carmel Academy by Friday, November 18th:

  • Application Card 
  • Transcripts (from 5th grade forward) 
  • Standardized Test results (from 5th grade forward)
  • Report Card for first quarter of present year

January 7, 2017     8:00 a.m.

Students attend Application Day at Mount Carmel Academy's Mother Therese Chevrel Assembly Center on Louisville Street.

Applicants should bring their $30 Application Fee and two (2) sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers. Do not bring calculators. 

Casual attire is appropriate.

The HSPT is a nationally-recognized private school entrance examination taken by students as part of the private school application process. The exam covers: Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics and Language. The exam typically takes 3 hours to complete with breaks.

Parents are invited to return at 11:30am for a short prayer service and refreshments.

Letters of acceptance and non-acceptance mailed.

Incoming 10th and 11th Graders

Upperclassman Student Application.

Registration of applicants who are interested in transferring from another school to Mount Carmel Academy for the tenth and eleventh grades will take place in March.  Upperclassman applicants are invited to apply to Mount Carmel Academy after they receive their 2nd quarter report card.

You may print the Upperclassman Application Form and mail it to the admissions office when it is available on November 14, 2016.
