Students also offer their services as tutors and commit to doing hands-on community service as a group. Meetings are the first Thursday of the month before school.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society of Secondary Schools (NHS) has as its purpose the creation of enthusiasm for scholarship, the stimulation of a desire to render service, the promotion of leadership, and the development of character in the students of secondary schools.
Invitations to membership in the National Honor Society are open to sophomores and juniors who meet the following requirements: Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.75, at least two honors-level courses, and be in good standing in extra-curricular activities.
Satisfaction of the minimum requirements does not automatically ensure a student of membership in the National Honor Society. Students who earn the required GPA but do not exhibit leadership and character qualities as described in the NHS handbook will not be admitted to the National Honor Society. The final decisions for eligibility are made by the Principal in consultation with the Administrative Council.

National Art Honor Society

The purpose of the National Art Honor Society is to inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art, to aid them in furthering their creative abilities and talents, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
The Mount Carmel Academy chapter promotes interest through in-school and community-oriented projects and art work displays, spring NAHS-sponsored art shows, art workshops and on-going education concerning careers in the varied arts.
Selection for membership is based upon art scholarship, service, character, portfolio review and a tryout poster. The student must have completed an art course with at least a "B" average and have a minimal 3.0 GPA.

National Thespian Honor Society

The Society was established in 1929. The organization is named for Thespis, the ancient Greek who, according to legend, stepped out from the chorus and became the first actor. The Society’s guiding principle is a dedication to excellence in educational theatre. The International Thespian Society honors those students who do theatre well.
Motto: "Act well your part; there all the honor lies."
