Four Mount Carmel Academy students were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. High school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Of the 1.6 million entrants, 50,000 with the highest scores qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of those, about 16,000 students qualify as Semifinalists. Around 34,000 high scorers receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Semifinalists will be notified in February if they have advanced to Finalist standing.
Recognized Mount Carmel Academy students include Sarah Liang, Semifinalist; Grace Zschiesche, Semifinalist; Laura DeHart, Semifinalist; and Emily Schneider, Commended Student.
